An interview with Jules Kroll in 2010.

Before he worked for Robert F. Kennedy’s presidential campaign in Queens before becoming an Assistant District Attorney in Manhattan. When his father fell ill, Kroll took a leave of absence to run family business, which eventually became a three-year introduction to business corruption.1https://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2009/10/19/the-secret-keeper With this experience under his belt, in 1972, he launched J. Kroll Associates, which eventually turned into Kroll, Inc. The business involved rooting out corruption in companies that did much printing, with Kroll keeping a percentage of the savings.

The Foreign Corrupt Practices Act of 1977 generated new lines of business in auditing and compliance, so Kroll opened offices in Paris, Moscow, Sao Paulo, Singapore, and Manilla. The firm also provided political risk and executive protection services.

Happy Hanukkah!

Russians. Russian culture. Russian things. It all fascinates us Westerners. How can Russians be so close geographically, yet so far culturally? CIS1https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Commonwealth_of_Independent_States countries are like an entirely parallel universe, that’s how different they are to us.
And for a different world they need a different search engine!

Here comes Arkady Volozh, Russian Jew, the creator of the Yandex search system. It’s Google’s first competitor in Russia and CIS. It prioritizes info to fit Russian needs first. Did I mention that Yandex is so huge, that it has many sub-services like Yandex.Food, Yandex.Money, Yandex.Taxi, Yandex.Station with its own voice assistant Alisa – Russian “sister” of Alexa, Siri and Google?

Yandex became Russian Amazon and Russian Google combined. Thanks to Arkady, Russian lives are now easier and enjoyable!

Here’s a photo of Arkady Volozh and his colleagues from Yandex taking Jimmy Wales (a fellow Jew) on a tour of Yandex’s HQ in Moscow, Russia.

Happy Hanukkah!

Susan Wojcicki is the CEO of YouTube, the world’s most popular video sharing website, and 2nd popular website ever.

I’ll be honest, I like to spend time on YouTube instead of working, and I am sure some of our readers feel the same way. Why is that, we ask? Due to Susan’s management skills, YouTube developers were able to write some algorithms that make us stay on YouTube perhaps for longer than we’d like to. YouTube recommends us video that it knows we will enjoy, so we keep coming back for more informative and entertaining clips.

Susan’s sister, Anne Wojcicki is Sergey Brin‘s ex-wife. Sergey and Anne still run The Brin Wojcicki Foundation.
