Haym Salomon immigrated to New York City in 1775 and established himself as an experienced financier. Began financing the Revolutionary War in 1781.
Between 1781 and 1784, records show that Salomon’s personal lending and fundraising efforts were able to provide $650,000 for George Washington’s war effort (equivalent to over $9.4 billion today).
