Carl Laemmle

Regarded as one of the most important early film pioneers, Laemmle began buying "nickelodeon" theatres in the 1900s and eventually got into film distribution services. He then moved into production, founding Independent Moving Pictures Company, later renaming it to Universal Pictures.
