Cohen wrote politically on the subjects of anti-Semitism, Zionism, and other areas of Jewish concern. During WWI, he was interned in Ruhleben internment camp by Germany for 16 months starting in 1914 after having served with the English department of the World Zionist Organization in Cologne and Berlin.
